Denied admission due to lack of college experience.

Posting on behalf of my significant other. She applied for the Bachelor's of HR Management degree program and was denied admission due to not having any college experience. Our question is - do you think attending 1 semester at a community college will be enough to fulfill WGU's college experience requirement?

It would be a full semester, 12 credits, and the courses she wants to take are Intro to Business, Intro to Computer and Info Systems, Financial Accounting, and psychology.

Did anyone else get denied admission and what did you need to do to be admitted later on?

Is it weird the WGU wouldn’t take this denial of admission as a chance to get a potential student into their academy?

I believe it is if you lack experience.

They did, however there is an out of pocket cost associated with WGU Academy and Straightliner, where her CC classes would be covered 100% by student aide.

Everything would be online aside from the exams which need to be taken at the campus testing center. We’re not too concerned with that. We were concerned with which classes WGU accepts as “college experience” because her enrollment councellor made it seem like she needed to take English 101 and write a bunch of papers to provide she was capable of college level work.

Did you do well on the readiness assessment though? If she didn't score high enough that could effect their decision
